One of the greatest things about living in Westfield is the overall spirit of caring and giving of the people. The best news is that there are a large number of charities/organizations in place to serve and for you and your family to serve others.
While Hamilton County contains a lot of affluent households, there remain a number of people in need. It’s estimated 27,130 people and 11,790 children in Hamilton County who don’t know from where or when their next meal will come. There are also a number of organizations that address that very specific need in Westfield:
Food Rescue: Each week, the prepackaged foods, milks, and fresh fruits that students choose not to eat at lunch, are placed in a marked box at each of the 9 schools in Westfield. That food is collected, sorted and redistributed to families that are food insecure in Westfield. Contact Danyele at Danyele@TheRockWestfield.org for more details and to become involved.
Stilts Spirit-A Giving Tree: We are a faith based non-profit organization that operates a mobile food pantry that desires to feed the hungry both physically and spiritually. (317) 362-6888 www.agivingtree.info/
Open Doors: 25 years of serving in Westfield. Wow! Open Doors of Washington Township assists individuals with their physical and spiritual needs.
Food needs: Applesauce, Canned Pasta, Mashed Potatoes, Mandarin Oranges, Macaroni & Cheese, Tuna, Fruit Cocktail, Tuna & Hamburger Helper, Salmon, Pineapple, Jelly, Chicken & Dumplings. 317-896-5094 http://opendoorswestfield.org/
So get out there and serve. Donate food, sort cans or make food deliveries, but do something…because that’s what makes Westfield greater!
